Within a few hundred yards of the Leverdale Hotel you will findplenty to occupy your time, the local shops include a supermarket, designer clothes shop, computer store and post office. The area is well supplied with restaurants which serve a wide variety of traditional British and more cosmopolitan dishes. Whether you prefer Mexican, Italian, Chinese or a traditional fish and chip supper you will find something to suit every palate. There is also a small arcade and of course miles of golden sands just across the road.
Blackpool town centre is just a short tram or bus ride away where the 518-foot Blackpool Tower offers an undercover day out including the award winning Tower Circus. The promenade is also home to the Sea Life Centre, Louis Tussaud's Waxworks, the Sandcastle and the world famous pleasure beach, to name but a few of the attractions available.
If you want a quieter day, try a wander through Stanley Park, Blackpool's award-winning horticultural and wildlife treasure. Watch out for the squirrels and other wildlife, relax in the Italian Gardens or hire a boat and spend the afternoon with the ducks and swans on the boating lake. There's a Model Village and Gardens, crown green bowling, a golf course and a host of other family attractions as well as walks round the nearby nature reserve at Marton Mere. If animals are your thing a visit to Blackpool Zoo is a must.
When the sun goes down there is still plenty to do in Blackpool, choose from some of the UK's top night clubs or take in a show at the Grand Theatre, the Winter Gardens Pavilion Theatre, the Opera House, Pier-end productions or Funny Girls and from 2 September-6 November 2005 you can take in the glittering Blackpool Illuminations.
A one hours drive North will find you in the Lake District National Park, the largest of England's National Parks. Its 2,292 square kilometres cover fells, dales, lakes and villages. Ideal whether you enjoy walking or just sight seeing from your vehicle.
